Lecturer - Mechanical Engineering

Applications are invited from experienced Mechanical Engineers/Mechanical Design Engineers wanting to make a move into teaching, or those with current teaching experience to deliver high quality teaching and learning on engineering programmes up to including Level 6 Bachelor Degree. There is particular interest in those with IMECH/IET/Chartered Engineering recognitions. 

As an academic member of staff in the STEAM Faculty, you will provide high quality teaching, learning and assessment for a range of learners in the Engineering curriculum area with particular emphasis in Mechanical Engineering. You will teach an average class size of up to 25 students, contributing positively and innovatively to the development of industry relevant and dynamic curriculum.  

You will work effectively with colleagues within the area, across other curriculum areas in the faculty, associate partner Universities, and the wider College to achieve outstanding outcomes for all stakeholders, and make Solihull College & University Centre and The School of Engineering, Motor Vehicle and Construction the first choice for learners and employers in the region. 

Ideally applicants will hold a Masters level qualification although an appropriate first Degree with significant industry experience will be welcome. Candidates with teaching experience will have a Level 5 teaching qualification, a candidate from industry should be prepared to study towards this. 

You will be comfortable with higher analytical methods and have industry related work experience that will enable you to deliver theory and practical sessions in a range of Engineering and Design subjects. Knowledge of industry standards and Design Engineering packages would be an advantage.
