Sport Science Laboratory Technician

37 hours a week.

Sport provision and facilities at Hartpury are expanding with the development and introduction of a number of new programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, together with the expansion of performance and laboratory facilities on site. You will be joining a highly motivated team, committed to the highest quality of teaching and learning, informed by outstanding research.

We are looking for an outstanding individual to join our Applied Sports Science team at University Centre Hartpury. The individual will oversee the operational running of our sport science laboratories, which include two human performance laboratories, a biomechanics laboratory, a teaching kitchen, and sports therapy and rehabilitation suites. The role will involve the preparation, maintenance, calibration and safe-keeping of laboratory equipment. The post holder will need to be comfortable working with and using specific sport and exercise physiology and biomechanics equipment. This will further involve demonstrating this equipment to students and other users as part of the taught provision or in support of research and consultancy projects. As such, the post involves working closely with the academic staff to deliver an excellent laboratory experience for all users.

Experience of working in a sport and/or exercise laboratory setting is essential, whilst performing technician duties would certainly be desirable for the successful post holder. The successful candidate will be a strong team player, have excellent administration skills and a willingness to engage with external partners and industry. Our academic Sports Science team has a strong relationship with our own Sports Academy and external sport organisations, and as such, you be will expected to ensure that sports students have access to excellent vocational learning experiences within the laboratory environment.

The successful candidate will possess a postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject area, and demonstrate a willingness to develop a record of practice and/or research in Sport and Exercise Sciences. In addition, working towards, or willingness to work towards BASES Supervised Experience (or other relevant accreditation) would be advantageous.
