Working week: 7.30 to 16.30 Monday to Friday, with 2 short breaks and 30 minutes for lunch a day. Total hours per week: 40
Kingfisher are looking for an apprentice fabricator/welder to train to join their workforce. You will learn to read and interpret engineering, drawings, gain experience of working with steel of a thickness from 1mm – 30mm, fabricate pipework and structures using Mig welding techniques, operate plasma, brakepress, drill presses, power saws, grinders, welding equipment and hand tools., implementing health and safety policies, welding to qualified status, use of overhead cranes.
A fabricator/welder apprentice will learn the following:
Production:
- To carry out any production or general activities within the works facilities or on site at Customer premises within your capabilities
- Have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Have understanding of EN1090 and BS9001 procedures and quality processes
- Good housekeeping
- Fabricate of pipework and structures using Mig welding techniques
- To operate plasma / oxy cutting, brakepress, drill presses, power saws, grinders, welding equipment and hand tools
- Implementing health and safety policies
- To act on verbal or written instructions received from Production / Project management / supervision
- To assist with any activity being undertaken within the companies or your own personnel scope
- Motivate and encourage all personnel and colleagues within the business
Productivity:
- Conduct any activity in an effective and efficient manner, attempting to achieve improvement upon any targets as laid down
- Identify and remove non-value adding activities
- In conjunction with other colleagues suggest and initiate productivity improvements
Plant and equipment:
- To utilise and operate plant and equipment in a safe and effective manner in line with custom practice and in line with any legal or manufactures instructions / guidelines
- Report through the Company’s 5S system any process or equipment issues, assist in the repair / upkeep of such equipment
Material Control:
- Ensure efficient utilisation of materials, minimizing scrap and waste
- Identify any material issues and propose any improvements
- Assist in continuously reviewing stocking levels
Quality:
- Ensure all work is carried out to acceptable quality standards ensuring that all relevant documentation is complete.
- Adherence and implementation of all Quality procedures involved with in process manufacture and site installation
- Implementing corrective actions as identified
Health And Safety:
- Ensure Operator safety is maintained at all times.
- Implement and achieve acceptable housekeeping standards.
- To ensure the companies H&S and Environmental policies are adhered to within the works facilities and on site at Customers premises
- Where risk or danger is identified communicate this to all colleagues and management
General:
- To assist the Operations department in ensuring the companies compliance with all relevant legislation
- To assist in any activities that is aimed at achieving the Company’s success as requested by the Directors
