Working week: Mon - Sun, 37.5 hours per week

You may be interested in a career pathway including any of the following: Activity/Sports Leader, Sports Coach, PE teacher Outdoor activities instructor.

You’ll work in a variety of places, like schools, sport/leisure centres, private health clubs and sports clubs.

Your main duties will include leading and coaching fun, inclusive and engaging activities that help people of all ages to change their behaviour and adopt and maintain a physically active lifestyle.

What apprentices will learn:

  • Planning and adapting sessions and activities
  • Coaching or leading pre-planned sport or physical activity sessions
  • Working collaboratively with sports clubs and other community assets
  • Supporting customers to co-produce rewarding volunteering opportunities.
  • Supporting families to participate together in sport and physical activity.

Your work will vary depending on:

  • Who you’re coaching or the type of sport you’re coaching.

Entry requirements

  • Desirable - Grade C/4 and above in Maths and English or equivalent

Community Activator Coach Standard

  • Full training provided from your employer and college
  • Functional Skills ( if required )
  • End point assessment

What Next?

Successful completers will be able to move into leadership or management roles within the Sector which may be aligned to an Apprenticeship at higher level such as the L3 Community Sport & Health Officer. This progression will involve leading teams of people; acting as a mentor for staff; or specialising with the delivery of sporting and physical activity programmes to certain populations or communities
