  • To carry out consultations with clients, with exceptional client care skills
  • Provide barbering services, such as cutting, trimming, shampooing, and styling hair, trimming beards, or giving shaves.
  • Clean and sterilize scissors, combs, clippers, and other instruments.
  • To demonstrate the professionalism, values, behaviours, communication skills and safe working practices associated with the role
  • Meeting and greeting clients
  • Making refreshments
  • Making sure towels and supplies are ready for use
  • Keeping the salon clean and tidy and maintaining hygiene
  • Working as a team, assisting barbers

Entry requirements

Desirable - Grade C and above in both Maths and English or equivalent

  • Barbering Professional Apprenticeship Standard
  • You will be trained and supported by both your employer and Milton Keynes College to demonstrate professionalism, values, behaviours, communication skills and safe working practices associated with your role
  • Barbers will be trained to shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using barbering techniques, style and finish hair, cut facial hair into shape and provide shaving services for men
  • Required college attendance (Bletchley Campus) 
  • Functional skills in both Maths and English if required
  • End point assessment
