The University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) seeks two individuals to support curriculum developments across its engineering programmes with a particular focus on smart systems. The support is required specifically in the development of materials exploiting our expertise in artificial intelligence, robotics, and autonomous systems, among others, for the higher levels of the undergraduate curriculum and for taught postgraduate courses. You will work with equivalent post-holders in computing, and with academics, to build our capacity within the broader Smart Systems sector. Additionally the post-holder will contribute to the engineering strategy and outward-facing activities.

Our programmes embrace novel learning and teaching methods, such as the ‘flipped classroom’, and are supported by a variety of high-quality practical and laboratory facilities.

Candidates should have research and/or industrial experience in a relevant discipline. Familiarity with, and experience of, the industrial design process is desirable. Membership of the Higher Education Academy, or a willingness to work towards it, is essential.

In addition, you should be a well-motivated self-starter with good communication skills who is able to work effectively with a team. A strong customer-focus and an awareness of the engineering requirements across multiple sectors are essential.

Please note post holder will be subject to a PVG Disclosure Scotland and other background checks.

In your application form, please advise your preferred location; North Highland College, Thurso or Inverness College, Inverness.

Interviews will be held week commencing 8th October 2018.

ESIF funding fixed until June 2020.
