Contextual Studies (New Mindsets) forms the core critical, contextual and theoretical element of a wide range of undergraduate design and communication media courses at Ravensbourne University London. Central to this delivery is the individual student’s journey into and through research, critical thinking and debates, through the engagement in studies of the various social, political, cultural, philosophical, historical and technological contexts that surround contemporary creative practices. Across the three years, students develop their critical and research skills, forging new ways of thinking, making and approaching practice.

The role

Sessional lecturers may be involved teaching across the three undergraduate years, from delivery to large cohorts, to medium sized seminar groups, to small tutorials. The role may also involve formative and summative assessment.

The successful candidate will ideally have teaching and assessment experience in Higher Education, and will be able to contribute to Contextual Studies’ interdisciplinary delivery. The ideal candidate would hold a postgraduate qualification, and have a research background in creative fields (including practice-based research).

The role is casual and hours may vary across the academic year (hours to be discussed on appointment).
