The Immigration Advice Officer will work with the central immigration Visa Compliance team and Student Immigration Advice Manager to ensure that the College maintains its Tier 4 sponsor licence. To keep updated with the changes to rules, processes and procedures with which the College is expected to comply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as an expert point of contact for all academic departments/staff on Tier 4 Visa requirements and as a point of escalation for centre staff.
- Provide support and advice to the academic departments, particularly the Programme Managers to highlight any risk to the centre and ensuring all potential course changes are compliant with current UKVI legislation.
- Complete financial document checks for all students requiring a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS)
- Undertake compliance checks during induction to confirm all students have valid leave for their studies in the UK granted by the Home Office.
- Maintain Alternative Collection location records, document retention, contact details tracking, attendance management and CAS issuance for onward study (as required).
- Provide accurate advice and information to agents, parents and students on matters of immigration.
- Report information as a Level 1 User of Sponsorship management system (SMS) to ensure that all submissions, applications, reporting and advisory notices are submitted on a timely basis.
- Ensure UKVI Inspection readiness through adherence to noted UKVI related policies and procedures, and assisting with internal audits. Working closely with the Visa Compliance Officers to ensure the centre's Tier 4 licence is maintained.
- Monitor visa refusals and liaise with the UKVI.
- Enrol internal progressing students.
- Assist the Student Immigration Advice Manager in creating a comprehensive college wide policy document.
- Implement up-to-date policies and communicating clear information on policy changes to other staff. To ensure that the relevant people in centre are informed of Tier 4 Policy changes and the implications this may have on the centre.
- Deliver training for staff college wide covering Home Office compliance as needed.
- Organise Police Registration and support student induction sessions as required. Monitor student attendance.
- Produce weekly reports highlighting tasks completed, progress made of on-going projects and highlighting any areas of business risk.
- Oversee student withdrawals to secure evidence of student departures from the U.K and reporting this evidence to the Home Office through SMS.
- Maintain membership of relevant professional bodies
