Animal Collection Instructor

37.5 hours per week, plus occasional weekend and public holidays on rota basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a College with an extensive Animal Collection providing a high standard of animal resource for all animal related practical activity serving the curriculum and industry skills needs of both Higher and Further Education students.

The successful candidate will have previous experience within the animal industry with a good working understanding of best husbandry practices for a variety of domestic and exotic species; have good understanding of animal welfare standards; be confident in handling wide variety of animal species including large animals; have an understanding of the high standards required in a college environment and the importance of turning out high quality and highly employable graduates of all levels.

Care of the animals within the Collection and planning and delivery of practical teaching are the core elements of this position. You will also be responsible for the supervision of the students, volunteers, work experience placements and delivery of excellent student experience.

A relevant HND or equivalent, experience in an animal establishment, flexible working approach, can do attitude, good time management and organisation skills and ability to work in fast paced environment are essential for this role.
