Milton Keynes College Marketing team are looking for an Apprentice Communications Assistant to help spread the incredible work we do and nowhere is our ability to 'transform lives through learning' more clear than our work with offenders in prisons.

As a Communications Assistant for our Offender Learning team, you will assist the Communication Executive to hightlight the transformational work undertaken by our teaching staff in prisons, influencing key stakeholders and building our reputation as the market leader for learning in prisons.

You will particularly focus on internal communications, supporting the Communications Executive with requests for marketing materials and in sourcing good news stories. You will also assist the wider Offender Learning team with events.

Responsibilities:

  • To support the Communications Executive to tease out good news stories from prisons and chase the details required to turn them into a story.
  • To be the first point of contact for prison colleagues to request marketing materials to promote education services.
  • To keep a record of materials available for the prisons to and ensure this is kept up to date.
  • To help the Communications Executive to manage the marketing budget ensuring a record is kept of what has been spent and what budget is still available.
  • To support the wider Offender Learning team with key stakeholder events.
  • To assist with the content for social media channels.
  • To monitor social media for mentions of the College in offender learning events.
  • To support the Communications Executive in creating regular internal newsletters.
  • To be the main point of contact for Offender Learning in the absence of the Communications Executive.
  • To assist the Communications Executive in sharing good news stories with the wider College.
  • To carry out duties at all times in accordance with the College's equal opportunities, health and safety and risk management policies and procedures.

Desired qualifications:

GCSE English and Maths A*-C/4-9 or equivalent.

This role is suitable for school, college or university learvers as predicted grades will be accepted.
