This is an exciting opportunity to join our Facilities team, which will include working within state of the art buildings.

The overall purpose of this post will be to maintain the general cleanliness and appearance of college buildings and campus areas both internally and externally as directed by line management to ensure a high standard of customer care and service. The candidate will work as part of a pro-active multi-disciplined team providing general maintenance cover to college sites and building stock and is to monitor and comply with all Health and Safety procedures.

The normal average working week will be 37 hours working alternate shifts each week as shown:

  • Monday to Thursday 06:00 - 14.00, Friday 06:00 - 13:30 with an half an hour for lunch each day.
  • Monday to Thursday 14:00 - 22:00, Friday 10:30 – 18:00 with an half an hour for lunch each day.

The requirement of the Peripatetic operative is to cover annual leave, staff shortage and sickness so candidate would be expected to alter shift patterns from above at short notice. 

Candidate would require a full driving licence (no more than 3 points) as this is essential to fulfill the job role. This is because this post is based at the Huddersfield Centre of Kirklees College but you will be expected to cover all college campus sites as required.

The qualifications deemed essential for the post are a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C) or willingness to undertake in an agreed timescale. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is also essential for the post.
