Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire, Wakefield, Newcastle and Penrith.
We are now looking to recruit for a Course Manager in Floristry to join us to teach Floristry topics to various groups which require sound up-to-date practical knowledge and skills, course managing all Floristry groups taking responsibility for the planning and supervision of the learning experience of all Floristry students – full time and part time.
Advising the Head of Horticulture on all aspects of the Floristry Industry and curriculum and budget needs, you will work together to ensure that timetables are efficient and meet the needs of the study programme, students and awarding bodies; contributing fully to the promotion of and continued success of the college.
Undertaking commercial floristry work with students (weddings, Valentine ’s Day, Mother’s Day, events) in order to bring an income into the department, you will also contribute to other Floristry projects such as competing at the Harrogate Spring Flower show to ensure maximum profile of the department and must support the team and marketing with active participation in the promotion of the college, courses and services.
Candidates for this role should hold a Level 3 diploma in Floristry (or equivalent), have proven, practical experience in the floristry industry and be capable of teaching theory and practical elements. With experience of creating floristry displays for competitions and undertaking commercial work such as weddings and functions, you will ideally have some previous teaching experience supported by a teaching or assessing qualification.
