The HN Curriculum Development fellow will:
- Lead development work funded by the European Social Fund and Scottish Funding Council as part of Developing Scotland’s Workforce in Scotland 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Fund Programme.
- Work with a team as they scope and plan new demand-led curriculum in this key (eligible) growth sector and lead the development and approval of this curriculum. The curriculum developments will be at HN level.
- Work in partnership across the University’ Academic Partnership in preparing for approval and liaise with relevant colleagues and stakeholders both within UHI and across the sector.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Design and Creation
- Taking account of evidence from our Curriculum Development Employer Engagement teams, to lead academic development to ensure effective definition and design of new demand-led curriculum developments at HN level.
- To provide leadership to a distributed team of academics and work collaboratively with the EDU to develop innovative teaching and learning materials appropriate for flexible and individualised learning opportunities at HN level, with a focus on employability and employer engagement.
- To lead on formal processes, engagements and production of related documentation as are required to bring forward new developments to formal academic approval and to enhance existing curricula
Academic leadership
- To support the curriculum team to develop internal links with key academic partners and groups operating across the University.
- To work with teams across the University to develop and implement sector-leading academic practice and quality assurance relating to initiatives such as gender balance, employability and entrepreneurial skills development and to disseminate this good practice across the wider University and sector.
- To establish sustainable links with the wider sector to support sharing of good practice, collaborations and profile raising of the HN being developed.
- To work with employers to maintain curriculum currency whilst discharging its quality assurance and reporting responsibilities
- To explore and secure collaborative arrangements with partners outwith the UHI
Project Management
- To organise and manage relevant team and sector events and meetings associated with the development of the HN materials.
- To maintain accurate records for the purposes of planning, approval, monitoring and review, including the University’s Customer Relationship Management System.
- To liaise effectively as required with colleagues in UHI Executive Office, UHI Academic Partners and UHI Academic Registry
- To assist senior colleagues in the monitoring of risk associated with all of the above through the University’s approved risk management processes.
