Inverness College UHI, a member of the University of the Highlands and Islands is seeking a new Depute Principal - Academic Development.

Inverness College UHI is based between Loch Ness and the Moray Firth close to the River Ness. The backdrop of the Great Glen and the Highland make this one of the most beautiful locations to work, study and live anywhere in the world. Our regional context is important to us and ensures that our research, courses and programmes have a positive regional, economic, social and cultural impact. An impact that has value not just in Scotland but anywhere in the world that is concerned with issues around rurality in topics that range from the internet of things and remote healthcare to genetics and forest management.

At Inverness College UHI our mission is simple: we exist to generate knowledge, give students the skills to apply their insights and provide high quality learning. We support the communities of the Highlands, Island and beyond. Our course programmes are designed to meet the needs of students at all levels of learning from trades and professions to degrees and PhDs. We have recently appointed Professor Chris O’Neil as Principal and we are looking to grow our dynamic and ambitious leadership team.

The new Depute Principal - Academic Development will work closely with the Principal and Depute Principal - Quality Planning and Performance and will be integral in evolving the strategy and curriculum of Inverness College UHI over the next period. The new Depute Principal will help shape our offer, our courses and our approach to education, ensuring we are innovative, relevant and competitive in Scottish, national and international contexts.

Candidates will demonstrate their commitment and experiences that will enrich Inverness College UHI’s mission and vision through a strong background in curriculum development, planning and design; a demonstrable track record of leadership and management at a senior level; knowledge and experience in setting organisational strategy and successfully leading change, innovation and growth; and innovative and successful expertise in education, regional development and learning opportunities.

An executive search exercise is being undertaken by Perrett Laver who will support the College in identifying the widest possible field of qualitied candidates and assist in their assessment against the requirements for the role.
