We currently have a permanent, full time, term time only opportunity for a Welfare Advisor in the College’s Well-being Team.

In this role you will provide welfare support across a variety of areas such as finance, housing and safeguarding IAG for all learners and refer them as appropriate to the relevant agencies in order to remove barriers to learning. To support the well-being of learners in order to help them achieve and progress, additionally complete reviews and reports for vulnerable groups including young parents and looked after/in care.

The working hours will usually be 8.30 am to 5.00 pm from Monday to Thursday and 8.30 am to 4.30 pm on Friday, term time only. However, the working hours will vary on occasions dependent on the needs of the College.

The successful candidate will have a good level of education, experience of working with young people, providing support and IAG to learners. Knowledge of IAG relating to financial, housing or welfare issues and experience of safeguarding/child protection but this is not essential as the College will support you in achieving this as part of your professional development.

You will be a motivated, self-starter with the highest level of commitment to widening you knowledge of welfare legislation and issues. This is a learner support role and you will have exceptional communication skills both verbally and written, you will be pro-active, resourceful, and resilient with a flexible approach to working practices.
