Lecturer – Engineering & Aviation
Perth College UHI is one of Scotland’s leading Colleges of Further and Higher Education, and a large partner in Scotland’s newest University, the University of the Highlands and Islands.
We are looking for motivated staff to join our growing team to support the teaching of its Engineering and Aviation programmes, from NC level to Masters degree. This role will primarily be to support teaching on our Electrical Engineering programmes.
Whilst we are looking for applications across all areas of engineering and aviation, we are particularly interested in applicants with experience the following areas:
- Microcontrollers & Digital Electronics
- Electrical Principles
- Renewable Energy & Generation
The campus is well resourced to deliver a first-class learning experience with a well-balanced mix of lecture theatres, classrooms, laboratories and training workshops.
As a lecturer you will contribute to shaping the future of the next generation of engineers primarily through teaching and other scholarly activities such as research and consultancy. Within your specialisation, you will be responsible for preparing materials for learning, teaching and assessment; for the teaching of theory and practical aspects; supervising student project work; and contributing to the development of UHI programmes. The post will also involve the development of, and delivery on, elements of our international programmes - potentially including in-country delivery.
Opportunities for personal development are available through UHI and other universities.
Candidates should as a minimum hold a Masters Degree in an Engineering discipline, with Doctorate a strong advantage. Previous teaching experience is desirable as is an ability to teach across a broad range of disciplines. Practical industrial experience would be an advantage.
In addition, you should be a well-motivated self-starter with good communication skills who is able to work effectively with a team. A strong customer-focus and an awareness of the engineering requirements of industry are essential. In addition, there may be a requirement to teach overseas.
