Southport College has recently merged with King George Vth Sixth Form College to become the largest post 16 provider in North Sefton with 400 employees and over 4000 students. Offering a diverse curriculum within a modern environment, our mission is to provide excellent, sustainable education and training for Southport and the region.
The College has consistently been rated “good” during inspection (Ofsted) and has a stated vision to be Outstanding. Over the last 6 years there has been significant investment in the College’s accommodation. This has created a distinct University Centre with a dedicated library learning centre servicing 400 plus Higher Education and Access to HE students and subject specialist staff across a range of provision. During the summer extensive further refurbishment of the upper floor of the University Centre is taking place, in order to provide new classrooms and independent study zones .
We are seeking to recruit an adaptable and passionate Head of Higher Education to lead and grow our HE provision.
The post holder will be responsible for the development of the College’s curriculum offer for HE, including Foundation, Top Up and Full Degrees, HNCs/HNDs and higher apprenticeships and will drive initiatives to widen participation in higher education locally. They will work closely with partner higher education institutions and continue to foster relationships in order to ensure a curriculum which meets local needs.
The post holder will be responsible for the ongoing development and monitoring of quality systems and processes. In addition, they will work closely to support the Assistant Principal Curriculum and Quality in undertaking partner HEI and other external review and assurance processes.
The successful applicant will have experience of teaching at higher education level and be able to offer a relevant subject specialism.
