Working week: Monday to Friday 8.00am - 5.00pm, 36 hours per week

We are looking for motivated and committed individual to join Terra Measurement Ltd based in Ambergate, Derbyshire to commence their career as an apprentice surveyor.

As an Apprentice Geospatial Survey Technician, you will be responsible for collecting geospatial data (data relating to geographic position on the earth’s surface) for use in the creation of maps, satellite navigation systems (Satnavs), Global Positioning Systems (GPS), construction of infrastructure including roads, buildings, bridges, offshore construction such as wind turbines and oil rigs, the identification of local, suburban or international boundaries, military, mining and a wide range of other purposes either in the public or private sector.

Desired skills:

  • Experience or knowledge of, or a basic understanding of Land Surveying is desirable, but not essential
  • IT skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired qualifications:

  • A good level of education is required which should include GCSE maths and English at Grade C/Level 4 or above or equivalent Functional Skills - Level 2 in both subjects
  • A levels are desirable but not essential

Training:

  • Geospatial Survey Technician Level 3 - standard ST0491
  • Functional Skills maths, English and ICT (if required)
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
  • Training will be provided at Dudley College via periods of Block Release - 3 week periods throughout the 2 year course duration
