Working week: Monday to Friday 8.30am - 3.00pm, 30 hours per week, term time only

A fantastic opportunity to join the increasingly important ICT team as an apprentice ICT Technician. Working alongside the existing experienced Trust Technology Consultant, you will learn the key skills required to ensure the school ICT infrastructure is adequately maintained and is working to optimum effect. It is key that the school is at the forefront of efficient and effective systems which contribute to the school’s vision of raising achievement through Information and Communications Technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately recording new helpdesk calls onto the helpdesk system and ensuring that these are resolved or escalated in a timely manner
  • Updating assigned calls regularly on the helpdesk system with accurate and clear information
  • Providing telephone and deskside support to staff and pupils and visitors including in-class support – while keeping children safe online
  • Supporting staff and students with the set-up and preparation of ICT equipment around the school including projectors and sound equipment for morning assemblies
  • Installing and maintaining computer hardware, laptops, iPads, audio/visual equipment, Iris administration (Set up / Training) and peripherals
  • Maintaining an up to date inventory of ICT equipment, and ensure cleanliness of equipment
  • Routine administration tasks including checking backups, creating users and resetting passwords
  • Reporting any detected breach of the school’s ICT acceptable use policy to the ICT Systems Manager
  • Maintaining stocks of spare parts and consumable items, including projector lamps.
  • Assisting in school events – i.e discos, performances. sports days etc

Desired qualifications:

  • Previous ICT qualification/ICT experience
  • GCSE maths and English Language C+ (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
  • Experience of prioritising own workload, and working in school setting is preferred

Training:

  • Level 2 IT Web and Telecoms
  • Functional Skills maths, English and ICT (if required)
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
  • Full training will be provided on an ongoing daily basis and when required. You will be required to attend college premises 1 day a week working towards a NVQ qualification. An assessor will be allocated to you to progress/help you through you course. Continual assessment for NVQ’s coupled with assignments/or exams depending on course of study. Time spent training will be part of the agreed contracted hours of the working week.
