Apprenticeship level: Advanced
Apprenticeship duration: 2 years
Possible start date: 1st August 2018
Working week: Monday to Friday 8.00am - 5.00pm (1.00pm finish Fridays). 37 hours per week
This apprenticeship is to learn all aspects of Quality Assurance and Quality Control and to become an integral part of the Quality Department.
Responsibilities:
- Investigation of quality problems (Product, System and Process)
- Understand and apply customer standards
- Inspect, Test or Measure materials/component parts using a variety of measuring tools to include:
- Digital micrometers
- Height Gauges
- Digital Calipers
- Record and report inspection/test data
- Compile and report Measurable data including:
- Statistical Process Control report (SPC)
- Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR)
- Process Capability (CAP)
- Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
- Work with Customers and Suppliers
Desired skills:
- A strong and confident background in mechanical engineering to this level
- Aptitude for problem solving and rectifying
- Pleasant manner - customer focused
- Good written and verbal communications
- Good numeracy skills
- Comfortable working in an office and workplace/shop floor environment
- Any previous quality experience would be an advantage but not necessary
- Ability to react and contribute to quality related situations

Desired qualifications:
- Minimum Level 2 Engineering Apprenticeship (PEO)
- 4 x GCSEs at Grades A-C (4 and above) in English, Maths, Science and ICT or equivalent qualifications (Functional Skills Level 2 for English, Maths and ICT)
- Knowledge of Microsoft office or equivalent
Training:
NVQ Level 3 Tech Support – Quality Pathway
- A competence based qualification i.e. NVQ/QCF
- A knowledge based qualification i.e. Technical Certificate
- Functional Skills Level 2 English, Maths, and ICT
