Study Support Assistant (Wakefield City Campus)

17 hours per week, 40 weeks per year.

*£6,773 - £7,156 per annum (actual salary for 17 hours per week, term time only/40 weeks per year).

The Study Support Assistant role, based in our Achievement Resource Centre (ARC), is a varied, interesting and rewarding role which will allow you to make a real difference to our students lives by providing exciting and challenging opportunities to support students with their English and Maths skills, study skills and revision techniques. As a Study Support Assistant, you would significantly contribute to student achievement and progression, by supporting a wide range of students from different courses, to increase their confidence and grow independent skills.

Day to day duties will involve supporting the completion of initial and diagnostic assessments, communicating proactively with teaching staff to promote students’ attendance at the ARCs, assisting in the development of resources and providing a stimulating and welcoming environment through which students can achieve excellence and enjoyment.

We are looking for someone who is patient, student-centred and has the ability to gain trust and build good relationships with students. You will be a committed team player with a student first approach combined with the knowledge, skills and motivation to encourage and inspire students to develop their skills.  

You should also hold GCSE English and Maths grade A* - C or equivalent, have experience of supporting learners with literacy/numeracy skills gaps and have an understanding of the barriers to learning.
