18 hours a week are available.
It is essential that staff are available to work over the morning break and lunchtimes to maximise access to students.
There are about 1300 level 3 students at Worthing College. These students are provided with guidance and pastoral support by a team of Personal Tutors who are responsible for a cohort of students belonging to one of the college divisions.
Each Tutor is responsible for a mixture of A Level students and students on vocational Level 3 BTEC courses. Tutors normally spread their hours across at least 3 days in the working week in order to ensure the capacity for rapid response to emerging issues. They are responsible for a large number of students but concentrate their time on those students who are in need of support or who are presenting concerns in terms of their progress and attendance. This team together with the Senior Tutors are central to delivering the college priorities of achievement, retention and progression.
