Senior Laboratory Support Technician (Maternity Cover)

37.5 hours per week over 5 days a week

We currently have a unique and exciting opportunity to join us and become part of a dedicated and hardworking team within the newly restructured laboratory department at Hartpury College. A keen interest in all areas of science is essential as is the willingness to learn and use your initiative, you will be joining a committed team at an exhilarating time of expansion and change.

As an experienced laboratory technician you will understand the adaptability and time management skills that are essential to successfully delivering quality practical provision, often within diverse and challenging situations.  A positive and professional outlook are key elements of this role, as is the ability to plan ahead and recognize that all tasks, even the most inconsequential ones, are necessary for a smooth running department. You will work closely with the Laboratory Facility Coordinator and will be required to deputise in her absence.

Ranging from FE to postgraduate modules you will ensure all students receive the support and encouragement they need to thoroughly interact with their practical sessions and gain an extremely positive experience. Once confident and appropriate training has been given, the role will also include guidance within practical sessions, therefore you must be able to communicate effectively not only with students but also with colleagues and external clients.
