As a result of the retirement of a member of the Senior Management team, an exciting opportunity has arisen in one of Scotland’s top performing Colleges for professional, experienced and highly motivated individuals to lead Orkney College at a time of significant change in the sector.

Applicants will be highly motivated with the ability to strategically plan, deliver and drive change whilst ensuring successful outcomes for students.

As part of Orkney Islands Council’s Education, Leisure and Housing Service and a key partner in the University of the Highlands and Islands, Orkney College is also home to the following leading research and commercial institutes: Archaeology, Agronomy and Northern Studies.

Orkney College, whose mission is to help all of its students achieve their full potential, is the main provider of further and higher education across Orkney. The College offers a curriculum ranging from community short-courses, evening classes, local business focused training, secondary school subjects, vocational qualifications and academic qualifications up to and including Doctoral degrees.

As a member of the College Senior Management Team, this post has leadership and management responsibility for ensuring the quality, financial efficiently and overall effectiveness of a range of curriculum and college support areas. The post-holder will also contribute to the strategic management of the College and ensure delivery of the Council and College’s strategic and operational goals.

You will require significant experience of lecturing in a further/higher education setting, have significant relevant management experience and be qualified to a minimum of Honours Degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject and hold TQFE or other recognised Teaching/Lecturing qualification.
