Working week: Monday to Friday 8.00am - 5.00pm, college day release, some weekend work may be required, 40 hours per week
This is a great opportunity for a dedicated and committed individual who wants to become a fully qualified painter & decorator. Working on site 4 days a week and attending college 1 day. Painters and decorators use a range of coverings to enhance and protect surfaces. These surfaces could include plaster, metal and wood.
Responsibilities:
- Measuring surface areas to work out how much paint or wall covering you need
- Stripping off old wallpaper or paint
- Filling holes and cracks and making sure surfaces are level
- Preparing surfaces with primer and undercoat
- Mixing paint to the right shade, either by hand or using computerised colour-matching equipment
- Applying layers of paint and hanging wallpaper
- Tidying up after finishing a job

Desired qualifications:
- GCSE Grades A* - E, or equivalent in maths and English and good practical subject grades.
Training provider:
- Painting and Decorating Level 2 apprenticeship
- Functional skills if required
Full training will be provided on an ongoing daily basis and when required. You will be required to attend college premises 1 day a week working towards a NVQ qualification. An assessor will be allocated to you to progress/help you through you course. Continual assessment for NVQ’s coupled with assignments/or exams depending on course of study. Time spent training will be part of the agreed contracted hours of the working week.
