Lecturer in Brickwork & General Construction
Up to 35 hours per week (23 hours teaching and 12 hours preparation and other duties). Weekly teaching hours may be increased up to 26 hours per week in order to meet the needs of the business, for example, to facilitate front loading or for providing cover for staff absence
This is an exciting opportunity to join a high quality team teaching across a range of construction related subjects. The role includes delivery and assessment of theoretical and practical sessions to our full time students aged 16 – 19+, along with Work Based Learners at our main site at Suffolk New College in Ipswich. Subjects include Brickwork, Construction, Multi-Skills, and General Building Maintenance from Level 1 to Level 3. The pre-dominant element of teaching and assessing at this time is within brickwork.
To apply, you should have relevant, up-to-date industry expertise and a Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in brickwork or a construction related subject and maths and English at level 2 or equivalent. Ideally you will have an assessor award and a teaching qualification, or be able to demonstrate commitment to achieving both of these qualifications within a specified period. For the right candidate, we can provide you with an excellent level of support to guide you through your training and development to achieve these qualifications.
Due to the nature of this role, a driving licence with access to a vehicle or other method of transport is essential in order to travel to students’ workplaces.
