Working week: Monday to Friday 8.00am - 4.00pm, 35 hours per week

A fantastic opportunity to join the existing site team at Andrew Cohen House as Apprentice Maintenance Assistant. Through completion of your on-site apprenticeship in Facilities Services and in-company mentoring you will develop the skills and experience needed to provide support to the Estate manager. Under supervision of the Estates Manager, you will be working as part of the existing estates team.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with repairing furniture and fittings as required
  • Minor plumbing maintenance and repair work
  • Assisting in ensuring the external environment of the sites are kept free of litter, weeds, leaves etc
  • Assisting in all checks as required
  • Assisting in ensuring the adequate security of buildings at all times.
  • Performing basic maintenance duties and repairs as assigned
  • Assisting in making decisions on all minor and routine repairs; reports major problems to the estate manager.
  • Responding to emergency problems in the facility; performs emergency repairs as needed.
  • Maintaining logs, performs rounds and completes maintenance work orders, tests and inspections.
  • Serving as a member of facility’s emergency response team.
  • Working with tools, ladders, maintenance equipment and materials as directed.
  • Ensuring that all relevant Health & Safety regulations are complied with.

  • A driving licence – full or provisional would be advantageous.

Qualifications required:

  • GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths is desired but not essential.

Training provider:

Full training will be provided on an ongoing daily basis and when required. You will be working towards a NVQ qualification. An assessor will be allocated to you to progress/help you through you course. Continual assessment for NVQ’s coupled with assignments/or exams depending on course of study. Time spent training will be part of the agreed contracted hours of the working week.
