Senior / Principal Lecturer in Human Animal Interaction (Higher Education)

37.5 hours per week

Over 3500 full time Further and Higher Education students study at our attractive rural campus in Gloucestershire.

We are looking for an outstanding individual to join and potentially lead our HE Human-Animal Interaction team. Hartpury provides a rich environment for anthrozoology, encompassing biological, pedagogic, companion animal, production animal, zoo animal, equine and veterinary teaching, research and knowledge exchange activities. We possess a strong academic base in animal ethics and welfare, and have extensive industry contacts across a range of animal industries and within education and human healthcare which supports a vibrant and collaborative anthrozoology research group. Ideally you will have experience of teaching human psychology in Higher Education, with vocational or educational experience of Human Animal Interaction in practice. You will demonstrate excellence and innovation in teaching and student experience and a collegiate approach to working. Alongside the motivation and passion to progress the field of Human Animal Interaction externally as well as acting as a role model to Hartpury students, inspiring them to achieve success in this sector.

Our academic Animal team has a strong relationship with animal charities, organisations and external agencies across the animal, equine and veterinary sectors and you be will expected to ensure that Human Animal Interaction students have access to excellent vocational experiences. The successful candidate will be expected to build further external links and help maintain the success of the links already in place. The successful candidate will possess a relevant postgraduate qualification, and demonstrate a willingness to develop a record of practice and scholarship in Human Animal Interaction.
