Apprenticeship level: Intermediate
Apprenticeship duration: 12 months
Possible start date: 12th March 2018
Working week: Monday to Friday, usually an 8.5 hour shift
Breakfast Club 7.30am – 9.00am/8.00am – 9.00am
After School Club 1.30pm – 6.30pm/2.30pm – 6.30pm/2.30pm – 6.00pm
Holiday Clubs 7.30am – 6.30pm
Responsibilities:
- Looking after children aged 3 – 14 years, before school, after school and during holidays. Making sandwiches and serving breakfast, lunches and teas.
- Assisting with homework – listening to reading, testing spellings etc…Escorting to and from school, (walking bus or on mini bus).
- Playing games indoors and outside, playground duty. Assisting with art and craft duties, sharpening pencils, making up paints and preparing activities.
- Attending training sessions – ie first aid, food hygiene & safeguarding Children. Having fun, keeping children occupied and safe.
Desired skills:
- Happy disposition and a genuine love and want to work with children
- Good sense of humour, presentable, good role model, polite, understanding, calm, good fun, energetic etc…..
- Desirable and useful skills include drawing, sport, maths, IT, English etc.
- The most important quality a candidate can have is that he or she wants to and enjoys being around children
Personal qualities:
- Caring, assertive, passionate, friendly with a happy disposition
- Motivated and able to work within a group but also using own initiative when needed – confident!
Qualifications required:
- GCSE Grade D or above in English and Maths or equivalent
- Any childcare qualifications are desirable but new staff can train
- New staff would need safeguarding, First Aid and Food hygiene as basic requirements so if they do not have then they would need to agree to training
- Any sports qualifications or teaching qualifications, N.N.E.B, Playwork, Health and Social Care etc.. all useful but not essential
