We are looking for a motivated and creative Marketing and Events Senior Officer to join our small but busy Brand and Communications Team at Plymouth College of Art.

Your role as part of our high achieving team will be an important one - helping to promote the college via national advertising campaigns and events, our students, our partners and our alumni that appeal to a variety of audiences and in turn raise our reputation and profile.

The day to day work will be varied and challenging but typical projects and events that you will help to plan, promote and deliver could range from our Summer Shows, Graduation and national events to rolling out our national student recruitment campaign across print, outdoor, digital and social media. You’ll help to create and source compelling content for our website, prospectus, e-newsletters, blog etc. and you’ll work with talented students, artists and makers to celebrate their work and achievements to a variety of audiences. You will be in charge of planning year-long advertising and budget management, identifying best possible opportunities for local, national and international publicity, negotiating competitive rates and overseeing the planning, design and placement of planned and ad-hoc advertising - current campaigns span outdoor, print, online, on demand TV and regional radio.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable managing several projects at once, tenacious enough to chase busy creative people, able to think laterally to find and evaluate new communication channels and to negotiate the purchase of cost-effective goods and services. Creating high quality materials and experiences that communicate our vision effectively and expose the wealth of exceptional creativity and opportunities here is key.  A love of language, the ability to seek, record and respond to audience feedback, prioritise workload and work collaboratively are all important attributes. Dealing positively, articulately and persuasively with people at many levels will be essential and, in time, an understanding of our values will help you to assess whether events, partnerships and marketing materials are tonally on-brand and uphold the unique creative and contemporary environment of this specialist art college.

We really believe in the transformative nature of the arts, culture and creative education and we value people who not only have an interest in these areas but are willing to attend and promote our events and initiatives to others too. Experience of studying at undergraduate level, as well as a passion for contemporary arts and culture would be helpful but are not essential.

The Brand and Communications Team is primarily responsible for managing and promoting pre-degree, degree and postgraduate level education and arts events and projects for Plymouth College of Art however we also work the Plymouth School of Creative Arts - a 4-16 through school that we have founded in Millbay, Plymouth, Making Futures - an international conference and journal, and a variety of local and national art, design and media projects and community initiatives.
