Share your knowledge and allow our students to follow their dreams. Be part of our team as a Student Mentor in Business, Computing, Creative & Digital Industries department. 

  • Utilise effective processes, including ICT systems, to support students in being successful, to improve attendance and punctuality and support overall retention, achievement and progression of students.
  • Communicate effectively and refer to parents/guardians and external agencies in regard to the student`s welfare and academic progress.
  • Support students to complete the ILP, set targets and review and monitor outcomes to encourage success.
  • Develop resources for and deliver effective useful group tutorials often working with students in 1-1 groups. 

The Manchester College is based at many sites across the city, each with its own specialist cutting edge facilities within a friendly and supportive environment. We are the largest FE college in the UK providing education and training to a wide range of learners. The role of a Student Mentor is to support and develop the personal, social and health education of learners within a specific business unit for all age groups. This includes using action plans and target setting, alongside utilising internal and external support agencies.

In order to do this, you will need to: 

  • Communicate effectively and refer to parents/guardians and external agencies in regard to the student`s welfare and academic progress as well as the promotion of TMC and specific department through Open Days, Interview Evenings, school links.
  • Offer and provide pastoral support and guidance for academic and personal issues.
  • Support students to complete the LIP, set targets and review and monitor outcomes to encourage success.
