We are seeking to recruit two Building Services Assistants in the following locations: 

  • 1 based in the Aylesbury campus.
  • 1 to rate over Amersham/Wycombe Campuses.

The purpose of this job is to assist in the day to day running of related services to the College to ensure that all premises are maintained to the highest standards including cleanliness and safety.

Your duties will include, but not be limited to having to:

  • Undertake building maintenance duties that are suited to the post holder’s trade experience and qualifications. This includes both reactive and proactive maintenance as necessary to achieve and maintain good environmental conditions.
  • Control and monitor contractors on site when necessary ensuring all College Health and Safety Policies are adhered to.
  • Undertake the role on a variable shift pattern to ensure Building Services cover all campuses throughout the operational hours of the College.
  • Monitor and control security of the campus ensuring all buildings are secured and alarmed when not in use.
  • Monitor the cleaning, catering, ground maintenance, building maintenance services in order to maintain the College buildings and deliver to the highest standard.
  • Effectively communicate with customers at all levels.
  • Monitor the Building Services request system and works with the Building Services team to ensure that requests are responded to and actioned, where required, effectively and efficiently.
  • Be a premises key holder for one or more sites. To maintain key holder lists, manage intruder alarms and liaise with alarm companies and the police including out of hours’ attendance, if required, to ensure the security of College buildings are maintained at all times. Attend site(s) out of hours (24 hours) in response to alarm activations and other emergencies.
  • Monitor Health & Safety standards relating to the College estate/facilities function (e.g. access, means of escape, fire alarms etc.) and take appropriate action in consultation with the Head of Estates and Health & Safety.
  • Undertake campus first aid duties as and when required on a rota basis,provide advice, support and assistance to the Evening Duty Manager during evening operation.
  • Respond to requests for assistance from staff with regard to issues related to the College premises, facilities and equipment ensuring an effective and efficient operation of the College.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grading of this post as may be required from time to time.
