Stockport College is looking to appoint a Part-time Lecturer in Science with the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Highly skilled classroom practitioner, able to deliver a variety of teaching strategies.
  • Excellent lesson planning.
  • Effective behaviour management and motivation.
  • The ability to work easily with colleagues and to function as part of a team.
  • Innovative and flexible approach to supporting learners.
  • The ability to engage learners in vocational areas with Maths and English through contextualised, meaningful activities.
  • Teaching qualification, e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS.
  • Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy qualification.
  • Level 3 or above Science qualification.

Responsibilities:

  • Mark and assess work regularly and to take part in the departments quality assurance procedures.
  • Monitor student progress and set targets to ensure expected progress is achieved.
  • Work as part of a team, attend regular meetings and provide a major input into departmental development.
  • Follow the College’s behaviour for learning policy.

With a proven track record of working with younger learners from a variety of backgrounds, you should also be able to demonstrate the high quality of your teaching and have achieved an Observation grade 1 or 2, in the last 12 months.
