Curriculum Development Fellow - Engineering

The post of Curriculum Development Fellow – Engineering is a new fixed term position within the University of the Highlands and Islands. This post is funded by the European Social Fund and Scottish Funding Council as part of Developing Scotland’s Workforce in the Scotland 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Fund Programme.

The University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) seeks two talented individuals to support curriculum developments across its engineering programmes. These programmes embrace novel learning and teaching methods, such as the ‘flipped classroom’, and are supported by a variety of high-quality practical and laboratory facilities.

One role will be based at Inverness College UHI and another role at North Highland College UHI, Thurso.  Please clearly specify on your application form, your preferred location.       

The support is required specifically in the development of materials for the higher levels of the undergraduate curriculum and for the postgraduate courses. Additionally the post-holder will contribute to the engineering strategy and outward-facing activities.

Candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience and expertise gained in an industrial environment.  Familiarity with, and experience of, the industrial design process is desirable.  Membership of the Higher Education Academy, or a willingness to work towards it, is essential.

In addition, you should be a well-motivated self-starter with good communication skills who is able to work effectively with a team.  A strong customer-focus and an awareness of the engineering requirements across multiple sectors are essential.
