An exciting opportunity has arisen for a number of Tutors specialising in History, Maths, or Law, to join our brand new International Study Centre. Since opening its doors in September, the centre has already seen excellent success and growth meaning that there is now the opportunity for more talented staff to join this truly amazing academic team.

A teaching opportunity at Study Group is exciting and completely unique, working with student s from all over the globe. This is a flexible, adult environment, working as part of a collaborative and professional team Based in the heart of Durham University’s Queens Campus, the teaching facilities are world class, and the campus itself is truly stunning, located next to the famous Tees River.

You will have the opportunity to teach both Foundation (Level 3 equivalent) and Pre-Masters courses and will have plenty of flexibility with your teaching practice and material. Our students thrive from an interactive and engaging classroom so being creative with your lessons is essential.

So what would your responsibilities be?

In this role you would be expected to deliver modules through high quality teaching to international students studying on programmes offered by the Centre, as well as assisting with the development of modules. As well as this, you would also be preparing module examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment, marking and providing feedback to students including re-sit examinations.

Our VLE plays a huge part of the experience for teachers and Students, so the development and maintenance of this is a key part of the position. We have a fantastic group of teaching staff in the Durham ISC, and every team is collaborative, so the role would require regular meeting with your colleagues and support staff, to ensure best practice and consistency across the centre.

What experience and Qualifications are we looking for?

We are simply looking for expert teachers in their field. Qualifications would be desirable, however commercial experience is also considered depending on the subject area. Ultimately, we want people that can confidently create an effective and empowering learning environment for our students. If would be highly desirable if you have following:

  • Teaching experience in any of the relevant subject areas within an either FE or UK higher education context
  • A recognised teacher status qualification and/or
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related subject area and preferably a minimum of a Master’s degree
  • Fluent spoken and written English
