Sessional Lecturer, BA(Hons) Design Products

Ravensbourne is exceptional. A world-class digital destination developing talented individuals and leading edge businesses through learning, skills, applied research, enterprise and innovation.

We are based at Greenwich Peninsula in an iconic building next to The O2. Our aim is to become a portal for talent across London driving growth in the knowledge economy and creative industries.

Design Products at Ravensbourne focuses on developing well-rounded designers with the skills and knowledge to produce both digital and physical products and services. User-centred research is at the centre of this course and students work on researching, creating and evaluating new ideas and turning them into tangible inventions.

Students learn technical skills through the completion of hands-on, practical work alongside presentation and pitching skills and knowledge of the conceptual design process. Students study aesthetics and sustainability as well as manufacturing through prototyping and basic electronics.

Sessional lecturers help to bring a diversity of skills experience to the teaching team. The role includes conducting tutorials, delivering lectures, assessment, and contributing to course content. The role is casual, with hours to be discussed on appointment.

The successful candidates will be established practicing product designers wishing to take on additional work in higher education. Fields of experience could include industrial design, digital product design, service design, design and making, sustainable design, or user interface design. Candidates will ideally have previous teaching experience although this is not essential.
