Peterborough sits within a Higher Education Cold Spot and is one of the largest conurbations in the UK without a university. The creation of a University in the City is a longstanding aspiration which forms part of the devolution deal for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The establishment of the proposed University is a long term undertaking, which will be built on the current activities of the University Centre Peterborough (UCP). Our vision is for Peterborough to establish a thriving, independent, campus-based university with an undergraduate population of 12,500 students, which will become a powerhouse for economic and intellectual growth, outward looking but rooted in the ingenuity and diversity of its people.

A crucial contributor to the realisation of this vision is the establishment of an innovative and inspiring curriculum offer. UCP therefore seeks to appoint a selection of highly motivated Academic Leads who will drive the development of an exciting curriculum for the students of today and tomorrow. The Academic Leads will play an integral role in both shaping and implementing the University for Peterborough Curriculum Strategy. Their primary focus will revolve around the preparation of the curriculum that will form the foundations of the identified faculties.

Educated to Level 7 (Master’s Degree or a relevant Professional Qualification), successful candidates will have experience in the writing and validation of courses within the higher education sector, with an ability to do so according to ambitious deadlines in-line with the University Centre’s anticipated application for Degree Awarding Powers. Candidates will have specialist knowledge in one of the identified areas of development (Primary Education; Educational Leadership/Policy; Social/Youth Work), alongside experience in the development of courses using a variety of different modes (traditional, blended and online). Successful candidates will also display a willingness and ability to develop provision from all relevant areas within the faculty, drawing upon current staff experience and (where necessary) external expertise to ensure a relevant, vibrant and enticing suite of courses is produced. These roles will also include a small teaching requirement (approximately 5 hours per week).
