Solihull College and University Centre is seeking talented and experienced hourly paid teachers to deliver Functional Skills Maths qualifications to large groups of adult learners from Entry 1 to Level 2 and also to apprentices and adult ESOL learners.

A minimum Level 3 qualification in maths and a teaching qualification are both essential in order to deliver programmes in a timely manner to ensure high levels of student satisfaction, attendance, retention and ultimately success.

Delivery may be at a number of sites including community venues, employer's premises and at the College campuses. 

You will have excellent communication, IT and number skills, with a positive 'can do' attitude and have the ability to work both as part of a team and independently. You will be an excellent administrator, well organised and able to meet deadlines.

Principal Duties: 

  1. To teach Functional Skills Maths within the School delivering programmes in a timely manner and to ensure high levels of students satisfaction, attendance, retention and ultimate success.
  2. To act as a course tutor.
  3. To undertake any associated marking and preparation as required by the needs of the programme.
  4. To attend meetings as required which are related to the specific delivery area.
  5. To demonstrate commitment to his / her professional development.
  6. To be proactive in maintaining and developing quality standards on all programmes and demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement.
  7. To produce any statistical returns, registers etc., as required by the Head of School.
  8. To adhere to policies and procedures of Solihull College & University Centre.
  9. To undertake Safeguarding and Health and Safety training as required. 
  10. To undertake necessary Health and Safety responsibilities and duties as required by this post.
  11. To undertake any necessary Data Protection duties and responsibilities as required by the post.
  12. Such other duties as required which are broadly consistent with the general functions and grading of this position.
