Scope of the post:
The Department for Creative Industries is looking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic, innovative Curriculum Lead to provide strong curriculum and line management to the FE Art and Design Foundation and Extended Diploma teams, and the HE Arts and Music teams, and also to provide course leadership for the Art and Design Foundation and nested Extended Diploma course.
You must be a flexible and forward thinking individual able to motivate, organise, lead and manage teams to deliver outstanding courses and an outstanding student experience. You must be able to drive new initiatives that meet college, local and national agendas to ensure the very highest academic and personal development outcomes are achieved for all of our students. You will lead on and oversee the quality assurance processes for all the FE and HE courses within the curriculum area, ensuring that these processes are undertaken and completed effectively and within specified deadlines.
This role requires a high level of professional knowledge of the Creative Industries and experience delivering and managing high quality curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment within both an FE and HE environment, and having a good understanding of UAL qualifications and specifications (in particular the Foundation and Extended Diploma qualification). You will be required to have a degree or equivalent in a relevant Creative Industries subject and have a recognised professional teaching qualification, and possess a good awareness of key pedagogic trends and issues.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and excellent IT and administrative skills and excellent planning, problem solving and course management skills are all essential for this role. A commitment to delivering outstanding learning and teaching and a commitment to equality of opportunity is essential.
The teaching requirement associated with this Curriculum Lead post will be dependent on recruitment numbers and may vary year on year. Teaching will predominately be on the Foundation and Extended Diploma courses but there may also be a requirement to teach or provide sickness cover on a range of other courses within the department when necessary.
The Department for Creative Industries was graded outstanding in the College’s 2011 Ofsted Inspection and has gained a high level of recognition with schools, colleges, the UAL awarding body and HE institutions both locally and nationally for providing outstanding creative education, achieving exceptional achievement, high grades and student progression onto first choice HE institutions throughout the country.
N.B. It is a requirement that all new lecturing staff possess GCSE Maths and English (minimum Grade C) or equivalent, or be willing to gain these qualifications.
