Apprenticeship level: Advanced
Apprenticeship duration: 18 months
Possible start date: 27th November 2017
Working week: Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.15pm, 36.25 hours per week
Responsibilities:
- To learn how to prepare and participate in a range of activities that promote each child’s physical, intellectual and emotional needs, and encourage linguistic and social interaction between the children and adults.
- To learn how to set up, carry out and assess planned activities set by the teacher for different groups of children.
- To learn how to be responsible for a group of children, by observing, monitoring and accurately recording each individual’s development in line with the curriculum.
- To learn how to support the classroom teacher to facilitate the active participation of the EYFS, KS1.
- To learn how to help children to become independent learners.
- To ensure that all children are treated as unique individuals with respect and full consideration, in line with the Schools Equal Opportunities Policy.
- To attend staff and team meetings as appropriate.
- To learn about ensuring the classroom areas meets safety requirements.
- To learn to support implementation of appropriate behaviour by adopting the schools behaviour policy and by consistently following the class teachers behaviour management strategies.
- To learn how to maintain records and documentation.
- To learn how to respond to Child Protection Policy and Confidentiality.
- To undertake the apprenticeship training including a Level 3 Specialist Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
- To learn how to support children during break and lunch times.
- To learn how to undertake whole class cover.
- To respect confidentiality at all times.

- Basic understanding of child development and learning.
- Willingness to undertake training as appropriate.
- The ability to build good relationships with children, teachers, parents and carers.

- Previous school support experience would be an advantage.
