New Enterprise Adviser (Truro)

Fixed term until November 2018

The successful candidate will work with individuals on the Start-up programme and will be responsible for providing mentoring, coaching and ongoing pastoral support to enable an individual to achieve their business goals. This post will work closely with the Spark Coordinator to ensure clear communication is maintained, compliance with ERDF audit guidelines are followed and  monitoring systems are accurate. The post requires an individual with first-hand experience of business start-up and where possible providing business support advice. The post will involve some travel across the County so access to or use of transport is required.

Main Purpose: To support the attainment of project targets by offering detailed business support advice to people wanting to start a new business. in Cornwall and IoS. Information provided should support the clients start-up journey and ensure that individual needs are met.

Specific duties

  1. To complete comprehensive business support with eligible participants, agree an appropriate development plan that support business aspirations, conduct regular reviews and support each client throughout the duration of the Spark programme.
  2. To fully understand the programme and support available to participants with regard to eligibility and compliance with funder requirements.
  3. To rapidly acquire and maintain excellent knowledge of all start-up opportunities and funding support available to participants within the project partnership, nationally and throughout Cornwall and IoS.
  4. Use a variety of assessment tools, such as learning styles, computer-based interest guides or skills inventories and diagnostic tools, to help participants identify, clarify and assess their needs.
  5. Liaise with the Spark Coordinator and internal teams responsible for provision e.g. Truro and Penwith Business, Part-time Courses and Higher Education, to ensure that bespoke support/training meets with individual’s needs.
  6. Pro-actively support the promotion of the Spark Programme to students and individuals in the community by participating in a range of marketing activities.
  7. Update monitoring and data systems with required information promptly and to the designated standards required. To implement and adhere to appropriate administrative arrangements.
  8. Work with the European Project Manager, Project Coordinator and Marketing Assistant providing information on potential case studies for quarterly project narratives and for the purpose of external marketing literature.
  9. To respond flexibly to the varied requirements which will inevitably emerge in the process of developing the project and scope of the department.
