Clerk to the Corporation

We are seeking to appoint an adaptable and self-motivated individual to the role of Clerk to the Corporation in this newly established College Group. Holding the appropriate professional qualifications and/or experience or be willing to work towards the ICSA Certificate  in FE Governance, you will promote effective governance and advise the Board on the proper exercise of their powers ensuring that all the Board’s proceedings are conducted in accordance with the Instruments, and Articles of government and AoC’s Code of Good Governance for English Colleges.

Responsible to the Corporation through The Chair of Governors you will work closely with the CEO of the College Group. You must be able to work independently on a daily basis and maintain an awareness of developments within the FE sector and elsewhere.

The successful candidate will have excellent administrative, interpersonal and communication skills, be experienced in preparing minutes and reports and able to give sound advice to the Board. Previous experience in the FE sector is highly desirable. Duties of the role include; formulating the agendas, organising the supporting reports, briefing papers and liaising with those members of staff or Governors who may be required to prepare papers for forthcoming meetings.

You will need to attend all meetings (some of which may be in the evening). You will take and ensure the proper production of all minutes and prepare, for approval by the Governing Body, committee terms of reference and rules relating to composition, quoracy, chairing and frequency of committee meetings as laid down in the approved Terms of Reference.

Services may be provided by a salaried post holder or an experienced independent contractor/worker.
