Payroll Manager

Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic Payroll Manager to lead our busy and effective Payroll Team. 

The role is responsible for delivering a comprehensive payroll and pension service to the College and the Midland Academy Trust, ensuring timely payments, legal compliance and excellent customer service. It involves the management of the payroll team as well as acting as the College’s specialist in all matters specifically relating to payroll, with responsibility for developing the service in line with internal and external requirements.

The post holder will also be expected to have specialised knowledge of Payroll, Pension and Statutory legislation. You will have substantial experience of payroll including an in-depth knowledge of RTI, auto-enrolment, PAYE and other payroll functions. You should also have a good working knowledge of pension schemes and ideally have some experience and/or knowledge of defined benefit and contribution schemes. You will also have a high level of excel skills and have proven experience of managing, leading and motivating staff. 

Suitable candidates will require ‘a can do approach’ with a strong customer focus to support the development and delivery of payroll services, as well as the ability to work to strict deadlines in a pressurised environment with strong organisational and communication skills.
