Accounts and Facilities Manager

Gresham College, founded in 1597, provides a programme of free public lectures, delivered by a wide range of eminent Professors and speakers. Approximately 130 events take place each year at Barnard’s Inn Hall, Holborn and other venues, such as the Museum of London. All lectures are video-recorded and made available online.

At this exciting time of expansion for the College, we are seeking to appoint a new Accounts and Facilities Manager to be responsible for dealing with the College’s financial activities (including contribution to the preparation of the budget and accounts) and to manage the day-to-day operations of the College premises. The postholder will work with the College Accountant in the preparation of monthly management accounts and year end statutory accounts for the College, carrying out the book-keeping function and managing the College’s banking activities (handling cash, payments etc and account enquiries), servicing the Finance Committee, administering the pension scheme and providing support for funding negotiations, leasing issues and salaries. As Facilities Manager he/she will deal with services (heating, lighting, alarms, security, post etc), as well as fire regulations, general maintenance of Gresham College premises, and external lettings at Barnard’s Inn Hall.

Relevant professional experience and expertise (book-keeping and facilities management), as well as good organisational and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to use initiative, work under pressure and demonstrate good attention to detail.
