A Science Technician is required to join an experienced team of technicians, working in Applied Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. A scientific background is essential. Previous relevant experience and an awareness of Health & Safety would be an advantage.  

The Science Department is well resourced, with 7 modern designated laboratories.  It is a lively department where teaching involves the use of a wide range of activities.  There are currently 13 teachers and 6 technicians in the Department. There is a culture of co-operative decision-making in departmental meetings and all staff are highly committed to improving standards.

The technician team services:

AS/A2 Salters Horners Advanced Physics (120 students), AS/A2 Salter Chemistry A (160 students), AS/A2 Salter Biology B (140 students) and BTEC Applied Science (120 students), in modern well equipped laboratories. A new laboratory opened in September 2012 as the Science numbers are expanding. 

The post is full-time, term-time only (39 weeks per year).  The hours of work are from 8.30am to 4.30pm (with 45 minutes for lunch), Monday – Friday. The salary is from £15,663 - £18,499 per annum, (85.62% of Points 18–23P4) including Reigate College Allowance.  Although the post is for 39 weeks per year, the annual salary will be divided into twelve monthly payments.
