About the Programme Leader role

Following the promotion of our current Programme Leader for Science and Engineering to Academic Director, we are now looking for a talented, passionate Science teacher with the skills to lead our Science and Engineering programme at KICL. As the Programme Leader, you will have overall responsbility for the academic programme from recruiting, training, supporting and inspiring your team of teachers towards classroom excellence through to managing the timetabling and resourcing of the individual modules. Your team is made up of sessional staff who teach part-time and Permanent Tutors who act as Module Coordinators, producing examinations for their respective modules, schemes of work, content for the VLE and contributions for the Programme Handbook.

To ensure that students remain on track to achieve the results of which they are capable, you will need to constantly monitor and interrogate the data gained from on-going formative assessments, be quick to spot problems and then take appropriate corrective action. You will spend considerable time observing your teachers and providing supportive feedback to drive their development and performance in the classroom. At exam time, you will coordinate the timetabling of examinations and oversee the fair marking of papers, ensuring that all papers are double-marked and all assessment processes are run in accordance with our agreed standards.

As a member of the wider college team, you will work collaboratively with colleagues in other areas including the College Services team who look after registration, monitor attendance and run the extracurricular programme. You will benefit from the support of an experienced Academic Director, other Programme Leaders and colleagues at the Centre for Learning, Innovation and Quality, a central team which supports all our 9 colleges across the UK.

Being part of a group of colleges gives you access to a close-knit network of educational professionals working towards the same goals. As part of a global education business, with a presence on more than 20 countries, there are also excellent opportunities for individuals wanting to develop their careers.
