The BA (Hons) Animation programme was introduced in September 2013 to run alongside the specialist BA (Hons) Graphic Design and BA (Hons) Illustration degrees. This highly demanding specialist course of study focuses on the role of applied animation in the contemporary creative industries and broader visual culture. The course has become a competitive choice for students who want to commit to an innovative course of study with a strong studio culture.

This role would suit a candidate who can demonstrate a high level of professional/commercial practice in Animation with an interest in teaching in a specialist Higher Education environment. You will primarily teach level 4 & 5 students and will be supporting the Module Leaders in the delivery and support of practice-based modules in storyboarding, character development and investigating narrative for a range of traditional and digital production methods. In addition, you will be required to deliver software inductions and support students in a range of software in particular 2D animation. A good understanding of Autodesk Maya would be desirable. You will be expected to have a deep understanding on pre-production processes, techniques and production pipelines. You will have links with employers to facilitate work experience and where appropriate studio visits. Working individually and as a member of a team you will be expected to deliver teaching within a variety of settings including workshops, individual tutorials, seminars and lectures. The role will require a commitment of 2 days a week across the academic year.

The successful candidate will hold a degree in Animation; have extensive knowledge and expertise as an industry professional and bring professional knowledge and contacts to this industry facing course.
