Great opportunities to join the trailblazing Forestry, Arboriculture and Woodland Management team at Plumpton College

Plumpton College is the leading provider of Forestry, Arboriculture and Woodland Management learning & education in the south-east and we are growing our provision to meet industry needs.

We are making significant investment in our facilities and resources to offer the best learning experience for our students and as we move to becoming the Southern School of Forestry and Woodland Management, we are looking to build our staff team and enhance the quality of the programmes we offer.

Over the last 18 months we have been working hard to improve every aspect of our provision and have been undertaking a really positive process of organisational change to lead the way in learning and skills development across the land based sector. We are innovative and forward thinking, we are prepared to challenge and above all we will seize opportunities for further improvement and growth. Yet above all else we always reflect the needs of industry and remain focused on successful student outcomes.

Our learning programmes in Forestry, Arboriculture & Woodland Management range from Level 1 up to degree level, we offer the full range of industry Lantra & NPTC Licences to Practice, we have the largest range of short and part-time courses and are trailblazing with the introduction of the new apprenticeship standards of Forest Operative and Arborist.

Set in 850 hectares of East Sussex, we have access to some of the best broadleaf woodland in the UK and working in partnership with the Scottish School of Forestry we will also be providing students with experience of large commercial forestry operations in Scotland.

Now in their 10th year, our FdSc in Arboriculture and FdSc Forestry & Woodland Management have become well respected and popular programmes; providing students with a focus on industry standard tree management and related scientific research, an understanding of current forest management practice and the factors which influence woodland management in Lowland England. We are developing our Higher Education provision to include a full BSc in Sustainable Forestry/Woodland Management for 2018/19 along with other learning aims at level 4/5. This role will define all aspects of course content at an HE level; the successful candidate will lead our HE teaching team, develop a research portfolio and grow student numbers. Minimum Level 6 qualification in Forestry, Arboriculture or Woodland Management with at least a level 3 teaching qualification.
