Postgraduate Fine Art Lecturer

Part-time 0.2 (1 day a week)

Hereford

Hereford College of Arts is a vibrant, dedicated arts college with a specialist focus on art, media, design, popular music and performing arts. The curriculum includes undergraduate and postgraduate degrees alongside a range of Further Education programmes and a wide-ranging short course programme. Our mission is to empower creativity and enrich our world through transformative arts education.

We are proud of our track record but have ambitious plans to develop and grow. Hereford city and the wider region are also full of ambition with a new engineering university in development and Herefordshire Cultural Partnership galvanising arts and collaboration across the region. We are rooted in an exceptional place and connected to the world.

The College seeks to appoint a Part Time lecturer for its new MA Fine Art programme, which is validated by the University of Wales Trinity St David. This practice-based programme promotes critical debate and dialogue between artists working across different media and platforms. The course encourages students to respond to contemporary discourse surrounding the production and distribution of art works, engaging with questions relating to the evolving role of the artist within society and the increasingly hybridised ways in which artists work.

Candidates must have a relevant teaching qualification, experience of teaching at postgraduate level, and an active national profile outside teaching in critical practice or creative practice, or both. The successful candidate will be a demonstrably excellent and innovative teacher and be at ease teaching across theoretical and practical elements of the MA Fine Art programme. Experience of supporting extended critical enquiry projects and membership of the HEA are also desirable.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to strengthening practice-based research at HCA and support the development of the postgraduate level study at the college.
