Join us in our Journey to Amazing and become a Job Coach in our Supported Learning Team on a permanent and part time (18.5 hours per week) basis.

  • To assist with the preparation and organisation of the classroom/ work environment and equipment in consultation with teaching and employability staff.
  • Job coach training for students to adapt materials and assist Interns through training in systematic instruction, contribution to all aspects of learner education in the college/ work place including contribution to risk assessment.
  • Facilitate learning in and beyond the classroom, delivering pre-planned activities, tutorials and job analysis to develop employability skills to group of learners and 1-1s.
  • To support learners towards independence in work tasks, personal care and support with eating/drinking, moving and handling duties, where necessary through pastoral support and coaching

The Manchester College is based at many sites across the city, each with its own specialist high quality facilities within a friendly and supportive environment. We are the largest FE College in the UK providing education and training to a wide range of learners. The role requires you to meet the support needs of individual learners, ensuring that they receive high quality, training and support.

This will include activities such as; systematic instruction, facilitating small group delivery, in-class support, carrying out Support Interviews, writing of Personal Learning Plans, Personal Care Plans and Support Targets, carrying out reviews on the effectiveness of delivered support both in small groups and key worker support for individual learners.

In order to do this, you will need:

  • Experience of working with young people and adults with a SEND in both an education and work environment
  • Knowledge of specific assistive technology or specialist software in supporting learners with a SEND.
  • Minimum Level 2 Learning Support qualification, or willingness to achieve within an agreed period OR
  • Minimum of a Level 2 Specialist Support qualification in two specialist support areas. (or willingness to achieve within an agreed period)
  • Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths
